My pretty little wicker beauty

I've been working on my office lately, and created a lovely little reading nook in the corner. Problem was something was missing. I had been wanting a nice chair to share the space, but every chair I found was $$$. Too much for me. So yesterday I decided to try my luck with KSL.
AS I was browsing I happened upon this little beauty.

My heart fluttered, I got butterfly's, and I fell in love with this vintage wicker beauty.
I knew immediately it was the one. Love at first sight if you will.
I got approval from the Orange man, and I contacted the seller.
For $30 bucks, this was definitely one of my happiest steals ever.

Look at how perfect it looks. I cannot wait to show you the rest of the office, but alas it is not finished yet.

Oh, and ignore the wires falling down from the top of the bookshelf, as I said... it's not finished.

Now keep your eye out for more steals, buying things full price is just silly business.

Refinished Shelf

One day, while Orange and I were looking through various items at the DI, he happened upon this solid wood beauty.
I took one look at it and went... ehhhh. I really didn't see much potential in it. He insisted that I could refinish it like I'm doing to our bed side table. I decided, for five bucks, why not!

We brought it home, to our small apartment (when it was), and all it did was fill up space in the junk room on the floor. Unnoticed, and sadly unfinished.
The poor thing was begging for attention. Once we moved, and I finally got a good look at it, I knew it could be magical.
It was fun seeing the transformation that took place, even when I just started priming it.
When I put the red on, I was a little worried. It was little bit brighter than I had expected, but with a little help from some black glaze that I mixed up, it took on a form of beauty, and my heart sang.
After a little sanding, it was a piece I could be proud of.

There it is hung on the wall with care. (Oh no a Christmas reference...)
I have started to put my fall decor up. I hope I can find a nice sign to go with these precious little pumpkins.

I love it.  I am now on a refinishing craze. Expect to see more soon.

1st apartment

I think now is as good a time as any to give those of you haven't seen my apartment a little tour.
It doesn't look like this any more sadly, as we are packing up and what not, but this was my first little home, and I will always treasure it.

This picture shows the most asked about things in our house, but I think they deserve a post all of their own.

Always dishes... Always.

This is our child, Mr. Daggum, which is what I called Oran when we were dating. We kinda love him, and our "dog" Bean Dip.

 Not pictured:
guest bedroom/office aka junk room

(way too much of a mess and not cute anyway)

I hope you enjoyed my little tour. Until next time, or when I get around to decorating the new place.

Moving

Change is hard for me. As is leaving some place I call home. I love my dear apartment so much. I can't even explain it to you. I love having that small corner of the world we can call ours. That place that is a safe haven. We've made so many memories in this place, and met some amazing people. I really hate to go, but alas this is happening. We've already got a sweet couple moving in who we really like. I know they will be someone who appreciates this place as much as we do. This was our first home... all of our married lives takes place in this apartment. I definitely will never forget it.

Here is to a new adventure for both of us.
